SANTA CLARITA — A human, 2 women and a boy were found shot to death today in a residence in Santa Clarita in an credible murder-suicide, authorities said.

The bodies were discovered about 7 a.m. in a home on the 28800 cake of Startree Lane and were pronounced dead at the scene, co-ordinate to Lt. Rodney Moore of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators suspect the man shot and killed the iii other victims, and so shot himself. A handgun was found at the scene. Investigators hadn't determined a motive in the attack, Moore said.

Moore said the victims, who all suffered gunshots to their torsos, included:

  • A white male approximately fifty-55 years former
  • A white woman about 40-50 years old
  • A boy of about xi or 12 years old, believed to the the couple'south son
  • And another woman almost 20 years old, believed to the the couple's girl

"This incident appears to be a murder-suicide," Moore said. "Nosotros located a gun at the scene. We are not looking for any suspects."

Information technology was not still clear when the shootings occurred. Authorities said the identities of the victims would non exist released until next of kin had been notified.

Neighbors said the older woman was an avid runner who ran a twenty-four hour period-care/preschool business at the dwelling house several days a calendar week.

Neighbors said parents of children who'd stayed at the center streamed into the neighborhood to check on the home later hearing reports of the killings.

Sandy Barajas, a neighbor, said she didn't see the woman running over the past few days. She said the woman had seemed a bit withdrawn during recent weeks.

Neighbors said the adult female attended Existent Life Church in Santa Clarita and in one case ran a half marathon.

"Information technology's deplorable for the whole community," Barajas said.

Sandy Barajas' daughter, Scarlett, said she attended a local school with the couple'south daughter. "She was a very nice girl," she said. "I'm very sad about what happened."

Authorities discovered the bodies later on being sent to the habitation on a request to perform a welfare check from a friend of the family, authorities said.

Santa Clarita only reported two murders in all of 2016, co-ordinate to FBI crime statistics.

People were urged past regime to stay out of the area while the investigation was under mode.
